Though bassinets, cradles and play yards may seem like a preferable place to keep your baby for his first few months or so, they cannot match up with the safety and comfort standards of a Crib. Cribs are the safest place for your baby to sleep and sticking to a crib from the very first month also saves you from spending unnecessarily on alternatives.
Cribs are manufactured according to the standards and regulations set by federal government and many of them are also certified by JPMA (Juvenile Products Manufactures Association). Hence there safety standards are reliable.
When buying a crib, especially for baby boys, I always recommend the basic cribs. The reason is that they are simple, plane and include no artwork. The cribs with cut out designs are risk. Since boys are comparatively more active than girls (in general), possibilities are more that their clothes will strangle if the crib posses cut outs.
Also since boys grow in length much faster than girls, it is recommended to buy the cribs that feature adjustable mattress height. If the crib’s mattress’ height adjustment facilities then you can keep the newborn at the highest height initially and then easily deepen the crib as the boy grows a little in length, so that he doesn’t climb and fall. Try to buy the mattress along with the crib. This will make it easier for you to purchase the exact fit.
While you choose the model, check whether it is robust or not. Push and shake it a little bit and determine its sturdiness. Buy only a brawny crib, because as soon as the baby becomes active, a frail crib may become less safe.
While looking for a crib for your baby boy, try buying the colors and designs that go with general male likings. Such as choosing bold colors like the blue (boys love blue, girls love pink we all believe !!) and green and grey. You can also choose cribs of comic and jungle thematic. It will make it look attractive and your toddler will love spending his time in it
Moreover, it will be prudent if you buy a convertible crib instead of an ordinary crib. A convertible crib is not only long lasting and money-saver but is also safer and stronger than ordinary cribs.
